Frequently Asked Questions
Why are you running for City Councillor?
I was elected by my fellow Councilors in January 2025. I have learned a lot about how the City works in that time and I am hoping to be able to put that experience to good use if I am re-elected in November
In addition
I am a very strong supporter of Public education and I want to ensure our school system is appropriately and responsibly funded
I am not a fan of the extreme partisanship we see at the national level, so I pride myself in being a representative for ALL the residents in my ward, regardless of their political views
I really enjoy helping my neighbors out. Over the past 8 months I have helped folks navigate issues ranging from roads & sidewalks, drainage, parking and trash collection.
My taxes are too high! What are you going to do about it?
High property taxes are an issue statewide, and while there are no easy or quick solutions, I am strongly in favor of the various housing initiatives under way currently, as increasing our tax base is a sure way to help reduce the burden on tax payers. I also strongly support the current administration's efforts to encourage growth in the downtown core to this - attracting more businesses will help here also.
I have been an active participant in the school budget process to ensure there is a balance between adequate funding and keeping any increases to a minimum. To this end I have been a strong supporter of the planned solar project which is projected to reduce the electric costs by a sizeable % by the end of the decade
I have been a strong advocate for greater resident involvement in the budget process, both City & School.
How can I reach you?

What political Party are you?
I am a Democrat...bearing in mind
I am committed to serving all the residents of Ward 1 regardless of their political views
I think the Party has lost its way at the national level. The 2024 election result was a disappointment, but a reckoning of some sort was overdue
Note that under state law, candidates' party affiliations are not included on the ballot forms
I would note also that most (if not all) the other candidates don't make it obvious where they stand in this regard, but I am fully transparent.
More than happy to discuss the above in person!
